If you seek, you will find…

One of the greatest statements made by our Lord when He walked with man was when He said, “Seek and you shall find….” (Matt. 7:7). This is what man needs to hear if he is ever going to find the truth. Without making the effort to look, one will never find it. Now, allow me to use this phrase and relate to some real dangers. If you seek these things, you will find them too.

Worldliness

The devil is doing all he can to help man lose his way. Instead of searching for God, Satan tempts man with all that the world has to offer. Stores make it very hard for people to dress modestly. However, stores make it extremely easy to dress the way the world does. Keep in mind that people who often fall into any sort of immorality, do so because they were looking for it (Jas. 1:14-15).

The praises of men

We live in a world where people like to be a man pleaser. There are those who are more concerned about what others think, than what the Lord thinks. Just like worldliness, it’s easy to seek the praises of others. All it takes to get the praise of men is to compromise and ignore what the Lord wants (Jn. 12:42-43). Most people don’t realize this is temporary. Sin is only enjoyed for the moment and then it is gone (Heb. 11:25). Men may praise us now but that doesn’t help us on judgment day.

Separation from God

Those who want nothing to do with God will find more than they bargain for at the end of time – eternal separation from the Lord (II Thess. 1:8). There is an old saying, be careful what you wish for or you just might get it. To be separated from the Father for any period of time, let alone eternally, is the worst situation man could ever find himself in. Yes, man can seek and find many things. The question is: What is it that you are looking for? Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33).
